Uokou Fishmonger
Uokou has been selling freshwater fish from rivers and Lake Biwa since its establishment in 1947, including soy-boiled fish, and the rare gem of the Hikone area: funazushi (the "original sushi," a type of fermented fish). Additionally, Uokou sells fresh eels, grilled with our homemade sauce, as well as eel broiled in a sauce with soy. For an unusual souvenir, try a taste of our funazushi-flavored cookies, or "funa-kie."
